Monday, May 8, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) hosted a conversation about how great power competition has affected U.S. international development programs. The discussion featured John J. Hamre, president of CSIS; Daniel F. Runde, senior vice president of CSIS; Henrietta Fore, former executive director of UNICEF; Rajiv Shah, president of the Rockefeller Foundation; Gayle Smith, chief executive officer of the One Campaign; and Mark Green, president of the Wilson Center.

Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 5:00 a.m. ET: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will host an event to discuss how Nigeria can enhance economic development and reduce its dependence on oil. The event will feature remarks from Waziri Adio, executive director of Agora Policy; Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, chairman of Coronation Capital Limited; Shubham Chaudhuri, Nigeria country director at the World Bank; Nasir Ahmad El-Rufai, executive governor of Kaduna State in the Federal Republic of Nigeria; Charles C. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 11:00 a.m. ET: CSIS will host a webcast to discuss how stakeholders can mitigate the spread of gender-based disinformation and harassment that is exacerbated by emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. The event will feature remarks from Asha Allen, advocacy director for Europe at the Centre for Democracy and Technology; Alejandra Caraballo, clinical instructor at Harvard Law School’s Cyberlaw Clinic; Moira Whelan, director for democracy and technology at the National Democratic Institute; and Kristina Wilfore, adjunct professor at the George Washington University. The discussion will be moderated by Caitlin Chin, fellow at CSIS.

Tuesday, May 9, 2023, at 2:30 p.m. ET: The Wilson Center will host a panel discussion to examine strategies for limiting China’s use of climate super pollutants. Panelists include: Philip McKenna, reporter for Inside Climate News; Kate Logan, associate director of climate at the Asia Society Policy Institute; and Jiang Lin, Nat Simons presidential chair in China Energy Policy at the Lawrence Berkeley National Lab. The conversation will be moderated by Jennifer L. Turner, director of the Wilson Center’s China Environment Forum.

Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 9:00 a.m. ET: The Atlantic Council will host an event to analyze the role of Kosovo in the Euro-Atlantic order and recent negotiations in the Belgrade-Pristina Dialogue. The event will begin with an introduction by Jörn Fleck, senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Europe center, and feature keynote remarks from Vjosa Osmani, president of the Republic of Kosovo, followed by a panel discussion moderated by Ilva Tare, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council.

Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University will host an event to discuss how conflicting institutions affect Chinese corporations’ decisions to adopt digital technologies. The seminar will feature remarks from Rose Luo, professor at Stanford University. The conversation will be moderated by Scott Rozelle and Hongbin Li, co-directors of the Stanford Center on China's Economy and Institutions.

Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The George Washington University Program on Extremism will host a webinar to discuss the threat of intersectional antisemitism in the U.S. The event will feature Jacob Dorman, associate professor at the University of Nevada; Linda Maizels, independent scholar; and Alexander Meleagrou-Hitchens, research director at the Program on Extremism.

Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The Soufan Center will host a panel discussion to discuss current conditions in Afghanistan and forecast how external powers and non-state actors will shape the country’s future. The event will begin with introductory remarks by Naureen Chowdhury Fink, executive director of the Soufan Center. Panelists include: Arian Sharifi, lecturer at Princeton University; Ioannis Koskinas, chief executive officer of the Hoplite Group; and Amira Jadoon, assistant professor at Clemson University. The conversation will be moderated by Colin P. Clarke, senior research fellow at the Soufan Center.

Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. ET: The Freeman Spogli Institute for International Studies at Stanford University will host a seminar to discuss the status of democracy in Israel on the 75th anniversary of its establishment as a modern independent state. The event will feature Amichai Magen, visiting associate professor at Stanford University. The seminar will be moderated by Didi Kuo, associate director for research at Stanford University’s Center on Democracy, Development, and the Rule of Law.

Friday, May 12, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: CSIS will host a panel discussion to examine U.S.-China competition and the future of Indo-Pacific security. The event will begin with introductory remarks by Hamre. Panelists include: Jaechun Kim, professor at Sogang University; Dongchan Kim, associate director of the Yonsei Institute for Sinology and Professor at Yonsei University; Bonny Lin, senior fellow at CSIS; Victor Cha, senior vice president for Asia at CSIS; Hung-Jen Wang, deputy director of the Institute for National Policy Research; and Chen-Yu Li, chief economist at Taishin Financial Holdings.

Tuesday, May 23, 2023, at 10:00 a.m. ET: The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) will host a live event to discuss how innovative technologies, such as the mobile application Diia, enable Ukrainians’ access to vital government services. The event will feature Samantha Power, administrator of USAID; Mykhailo Fedorov, vice prime minister of Ukraine; and Kara Swisher, editor-at-large of New York Magazine.
