Monday, March 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.: The Senate Judiciary Committee will hold a hearing to deliberate the nomination of Ketanji Brown Jackson to be an associate justice of the Supreme court of the United States. The committee will hear testimony from Ketanji Brown Jackson. The Senate Judiciary committee will also hold other hearings on Brown Jackson’s nomination on March 22 at 9:00 a.m.; March 23 at 9:00 a.m.; and March 24 at 9:00 a.m.

Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m.: The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace will host an online event entitled Water War: How a Life-Sustaining Resource Goes Geopolitical. The event will feature a conversation on the water crisis and how today’s leaders can de-escalate conflict and pursue sustainable solutions for our global future. The event will feature Mariano-Florentino (Tino) Cuéllar, president of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace; Ellen Hanak, vice president and director of the PPIC Water Policy Center; Olivia Lazard, visiting scholar at Carnegie Europe; Stewart M. Patrick, director of the International Institutions and Global Governance Program at the Council on Foreign Relations; and Zainab Usman, senior fellow and director of the Africa Program at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. 

Tuesday, March 22, 2022 at 1:30 p.m.: The Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) will host an event on Ukraine and Taiwan: parallels and early lessons learned. The webinar will feature a panel discussion of experts. Panelists include: Bonnie S. Glaser, director of the Asia Program at the German Marshall Fund of the United States; John Culver, former national intelligence officer for east Asia (ret.) CIA; Bonny Lin, director of the China Power Project at CSIS; Michael J. Green, senior vice president for Asia at CSIS; and Scott Kennedy, senior advisor and trustee chair in Chinese business and economics at CSIS. 

Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.: The Atlantic Council will host an event on European defense policy following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The event will feature remarks from Sophia Besch, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center; Kelly Grieco, senior fellow at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security; Benjamin Haddad, senior director of the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center; Katerina Sokou, nonresident senior fellow at the Atlantic Council’s Europe Center; and Christopher Preble, co-director of the New American Engagement Initiative at the Scowcroft Center for Strategy and Security. 

Wednesday, March 23, 2022 at 2:30 p.m.: The Senate Armed Services Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities will hold a hearing on strategic competition and security cooperation in the western hemisphere. The committee will hear testimony from Meliss Dalton, assistant secretary of defense for homeland defense and hemispheric affairs; James Saenz, deputy assistant secretary of defense for Counternarcotics and Stabilization Policy; and Brig. Gen. Frank Bradfield III, assistant secretary of defense for Homeland Defense and Hemispheric Affairs. 

Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 2:00 p.m.: The Canada Institute at the Wilson Center will host a book talk on the 2021 publication “Canada in NATO: 1949-2019.” The event will feature a moderated panel discussion with the book’s authors  Joel Sokolsky, professor at Royal Military College of Canada; and Joseph T. Jockel, professor at St. Lawrence University. The panel will also include Andrea Charron, associate professor at the University of Manitoba; and Lindsay Rodman, executive director of the Leadership Council for Women in National Security; and will be moderated by Zoe Reif, analyst and research coordinator at the Canada Institute. 

Thursday, March 24, 2022 at 6:30 p.m.: The R Street Institute will host an in-person party and networking event at the Jack Rose Dining Saloon in Washington, D.C. to celebrate new voices in cybersecurity. In addition to networking and drinks, NPR Cybersecurity Correspondent Jenna McLaughlin will moderate a talk entitled “Meet the Trailblazers Pushing for Inclusion and Diversity in Cybersecurity,” featuring Bridget Bean, assistant director for the Integrated Operations Division at the U.S. Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency; Michaela Barnett, founder of Blacks in Cybersecurity; Jumoke Dada, project manager at Making Space; T. Nicole Montgomery, cybersecurity operations lead at Accenture Federal Services; and Rhette Wallach, ethical hacker at Synack Red Team.
