This evening, former President Donald Trump's legal team replied to a filing that was issued yesterday by the Justice Department in opposition to Trump's Motion for Judicial Oversight and Additional Relief

Trump's original motion sought to stall the Justice Department's review of materials seized from his Mar-a-Lago earlier this month, requesting a special master be appinted to oversee the handling of privileged documents, which on Aug. 29 U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon signaled that the court intended to grant. In its filing on Tuesday evening, the Justice Deparment urged the court to reject Trump's request for a special master, stating that it would "harm important governmental interests, including national security interests" and further "impede the government's ongoing criminal investigation."

Trump's 19-page reply asserts that he has standing to seek a special master, maintains the request that the court grant him one, and criticizes the Justice Department for an "unjustified pursuit of criminalizing a former President's possession of personal and Presidential records in a secure setting."
