The Office of the Director of National Intelligence Responds to the House Intelligence Committee

General Counsel for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), Jason Klitenic, released two responses to letters from House Permanent Special Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI) Committee Chairman Adam Schiff regarding the on-going standoff between the two over an intelligence community whistleblower complaint. In his replies, Klitenic asserts that ODNI believes that they have no statutory obligation to share the information in question with the Committee.

The president seems to think so, indicating in a tweet yesterday that “the Acting Director will be named shortly.”

Whose Fault is the OPM Hack Really?

Everyone's mad at the Office of Personnel Management, and I totally get why. The hack is awful, the magnitude staggering. The consequences will be big, both for the country and for lots of individuals. It's a very ugly situation, and OPM has certainly not handled it competently, let alone well. And the more we learn, the worse it gets.

But here's my question: Is this really OPM's fault?
