On June 29, the Government Accountability Office released a report on the widespread use of facial recognition technology by federal government agencies. The report surveyed 42 federal agencies and found that 20 used the technology. While some have their own technology, most have used private companies, such as Clearview AI, and many could not identify which systems they had used. The report recommends that agencies track and assess the systems they use to mitigate the privacy and accuracy risks.
