A Partial Mea Culpa

Readers of this blog will know that I have been skeptical of the International Telecommunications Union and its efforts to update the International Telecommunications Regulations.   I still  am cautious about this, but I had the pleasure of meeting the Secretary General of the ITU, Dr. Hamadoun Toure, last week in Palo Alto, and I found him to be quite earnest and sincere.  At a minimum, I neeIMG_0200d to report that he does not seem to be all that Machiavellian.  And, as this photo gives evidence, he is also quite relaxed -- more so than me, at least.

The entire event on "Virtual Battlefields" will soon be available on video and I'll post a link when it is so that you can all make your own judgments.  Others in attendance include Howard Schmidt (President Obama's cyber czar), Whit Diffie (inventor of public key encryption) and Marc Rogers (Chief Security Office for DEFCON).
