National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal 2022

The House and Senate have passed the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal 2022, which authorizes $768 billion in funding for the Defense Department, sending the bill to the White House for President Biden’s signature. The bill includes provisions to create an independent commission to review the legacy and mistakes of the war in Afghanistan, overhaul the military justice system by removing commanders’ authority from the prosecution of sexual assault and other serious crimes, and counter threats from Russia and China.
