Back in 2011, I posted on the civilian criminal prosecution of a pair of former Iraqi residents Mohanad Shareef Hamadi and Waad Ramadan Alwan.  Both men were charged with having been involved in the insurgency while in Iraq and with having then attempted to provide material support to al Qaeda in Iraq once they moved to Kentucky.  Both men had entered guilty pleas, and yesterday received a life sentence and a 40-year sentence, respectively.
