Shawn W. Lonergan is a Senior Advisor to the U.S. Cyberspace Solarium Commission. Previously, Shawn helped the U.S. Army stand up its first provisional cyber battalion. In this capacity, he commanded two of the unit’s expeditionary cyber operations companies and held leadership positions within the NSA’s office of Tailored Access Operations. Shawn holds a Ph.D. in Political Science from Columbia University. Shawn is also a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, where, from 2014-2017, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Academy’s Department of Social Sciences and Chief Research Scientist in the Army Cyber Institute. Following his professorship at West Point, Shawn assumed multiple leadership positions in the Cyber National Mission Force (CNMF) at U.S. Cyber Command.
