World leaders have woken up to the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) over the past year. Billions of dollars in governmental funding have been announced, dozens of hearings have been held, and nearly 20 national plans have been adopted.
Allan Dafoe is an associate professor at the University of Oxford, and the director of the Center for the Governance of AI at the Future of Humanity Institute (University of Oxford). Allan’s research focuses on characterizing and building the field of AI governance, and on global cooperation around transformative AI. Allan’s prior research examined the liberal peace, the role of reputation and honor as motives for war, the role of technology in shaping history and statistical methods for causal inference.
