Civil Liberties Groups Ask Supreme Court to Make FISC Opinions Public

On April 19, the American Civil Liberties Union and other civil liberties groups filed a petition for a writ of certiorari, requesting that the Supreme Court review whether the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (FISC) should make its legal opinions public. The petitioners argue that the First Amendment gives the public the right to access FISC decisions and that redactions should only serve legitimate national security interests.
