In a joint press conference this morning, House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform Chairman Jason Chaffetz (R-UT) and Ranking Member Elijah Cummings (D-MD) indicated that they believe former National Security Advisor Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn violated federal law by failing to request permission from the U.S. government to accept payments received during his trip to Moscow in 2015 and for his lobbying work on behalf of the Turkish government, and failing to fully disclose those payments to the government when applying to renew his security clearance. Chaffetz and Cummings also disclosed that the White House has refused to provide information requested by the Committee on Flynn's disclosure of payments.
The Chaffetz and Cummings' original letter to the White House is available below along with the White House's response. Representative Cummings' prepared statement is also included. We will post video of the press conference when it becomes available.
